And a weekend at home

Here are a few photos from our walk on the Berkeley Pier last weekend. Did you know that it used to stick out into the Bay more than 3 miles, and people would line up for hours to take ferries back to San Francisco after Cal football games? How cool is that? Imagine a bay without bridges. Weird. Sage is getting more pregnant-looking, as you can see, but it's all in the belly. No waddling yet at all, I am proud to say. However, she is beginning to have some lower back pain when standing or walking for more than a few minutes. Boo. Luckily I'm learning all sorts of great massage techniques in our birth class, so I can help out with that. It's the least I can do (though I still act put out about it, I'm embarrassed to say).

More Mendocino photos

Here are a few more photos from the weekend, including hanging with the Ericksons and bringing Phelps out to our land.

Weekend in Mendocino

We spent a lovely weekend in Mendocino a few weeks ago -- we had no plans or agenda of any sort, other than to be in Mendocino and relax, and hang out with family and friends. It was very refreshing. Here are a few photos from our walk on the old logging road and train trestle that goes over Pudding Creek beach.

Okay, I totally lied

I said I would post new photos from my fancy new camera (just received a couple weeks ago), and instead started posting old photos taken from older, less fancy cameras back in the fall of 2008. It felt like the right thing to do when I started, but now it's feeling a bit overwhelming and moronic and useless. But I've started, so I should at least try to finish. I still have a little more catching up to do, and I have no idea what I'm doing, and the photos take forever to load, and I can only do it from our Mac at home where all the photos live, so bear with me as I struggle through.
Good things today are that it's Sarah's birthday, none of the Chinese New Year firecrackers that exploded throughout our neighborhood last night burned down our house or permanently scarred our cat, this country's energy policy has been completely turned on its head in a good way, and Sage agrees with my desire to have In-n-Out for dinner tonight. It's nice to have things to look forward to on Monday morning.
Oh, and not only is it Australia Day today, but my parents are celebrating (without even knowing it) by booking their very own trip to Australia and New Zealand. How very timely of them.

Working the land -- Fall 2008

A few photos to illustrate our recent activities

Here are just a handful of photos from the past year or so, to show what we've been up to. Baby-making and growing has been a big topic of interest for us, of course. Oh, and snuggling with our cat and going on walks and hanging out with friends and stuff like that.

It begins again!

Ever since we left Paris, which is much longer ago than it feels, we have been meaning to start a new blog of our regular life back in the States, but it hasn't happened. Until now. We are getting back on the horse, and will endeavor to do our very best to frequently post (or, as Justice Roberts in his hyper-grammatical wisdom would say, to post frequently) with random observations about our lives, photos of our goings-on (taken primarily on my fancy new camera!), and whatever else we feel like doing and sharing. Don't count on anything mind-blowing or exotic, just random stuff.
Oh wait, in about May you can count on something totally mind-blowing, which will be the arrival of our little one that Sage is currently growing. For now, he/she is named Phelps and is supposedly the size/weight of a rutabaga, but we looked at and weighed a real-life rutabaga at Whole Foods yesterday and determined that to be completely false. So don't believe what you read.
Okay, that's all for now. I will begin by posting a handful of photos taken with my fancy new camera (Canon 30D) that I received from Sage and Gary for my 34th (eek!) birthday a few weeks ago. Lucky me! That will at least give you an idea of what our January 2009 has looked like.
Enjoy!
